Sheila Coppinger

Sheila Coppinger is the YoungLives Coordinator for the Kalamazoo Area. Sheila graduated from Mt. Mercy University of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a B.A. in social work. At the age of 24, she became a single mom after giving birth to her daughter, Kristen.

Sheila knows, through experience, the importance of supportive relationships. Having a healthy support system of professionals and friendships is what helped her navigate through the challenges of single parenthood. Education is helpful; but healthy relationships are the key to a happy and fulfilled life. This is what YoungLives is all about:  Growing in a relationship with God, and developing healthy, loving relationships with one another. Her desire is to connect women of faith with the teen moms of this generation.

She and her husband, Jeff, have resided in the Kalamazoo area since 1995. Besides walking alongside of teen moms and YoungLives mentors; Sheila enjoys the company of their two adult children and their spouses.  She also enjoys hiking, traveling with her husband, reading about health and spirituality, and hanging out with her German shepherd, Noah.
